Michael Mesih, our operations manager, and Josef Gassner, your host, lead the team with warmth, understanding, and respect. We want not only our guests to feel at home here, but we also care deeply about the well-being of our team! We are grateful that many of our employees have been with us since we took over in 2020!

Michael Mesih, our Operations Manager

Michael has been part of Gassner Betriebe since 2024 and, as Operations Manager, has held overall responsibility for the Klosterhof since January 2025. Prior to that, he gained over 17 years of valuable experience in the restaurant industry in St. Moritz, Switzerland, where he worked at renowned establishments and continuously expanded his expertise. His path then led him to the Festungsrestaurant in Salzburg before he joined Gassner Betriebe. At the Klosterhof, Michael is responsible for the smooth operation of the entire establishment and ensures that all departments work together seamlessly. As the manager of a large team, mutual respect, teamwork, and open communication are particularly important to him. With great empathy, organizational skills, and a willingness to listen to both guests and staff, he creates the conditions that ensure everyone at the Klosterhof feels equally at home and that hospitality is lived out every day.

Josef Gassner Jr., Your Host

Since taking over the Klosterhof in the summer of 2020, Josef Gassner Jr. has been the welcoming face and host of the house. As the eldest of the three Gassner brothers, hospitality has been a part of his life from an early age, having grown up in the family business. After completing his classical culinary training as a chef, he naturally found his way back to what he enjoys most: creating memorable experiences and making people feel at home. With genuine warmth, dedication, and an open ear for both guests and employees, Josef plays a key role in shaping the family atmosphere that makes the Klosterhof so special. He is committed to ensuring that every guest feels welcome and every team member feels valued. Josef is also the driving force behind the Klosterhof Winter Wonderland, helping to create the festive atmosphere and unforgettable moments that delight visitors year after year.

Tessa Saadi, our Office Manager

As our office manager, Tessa is an indispensable pillar of the Klosterhof and the first point of contact for reservations, inquiries, and our guests’ needs. With her exceptional organizational skills, she works behind the scenes to ensure that all processes run smoothly and that everything stays under control. A trained office administrator, she brings not only professional expertise but also a deep passion for the restaurant industry and working with people. With her warm personality and dedication, she is the heart and soul of the establishment and plays a key role in ensuring that both guests and staff feel equally at home. In her free time, Tessa loves spending time with her children and indulges her creative side through baking.

Oliver Zipponig, our Head Chef

Since June 2025, Oliver has been overseeing the culinary direction of the Klosterhof as head chef. He gained valuable experience at renowned establishments such as the Stephanstube and Lentos in Linz, where he immersed himself in various culinary styles—including vegan cuisine. What attracted him most to the Klosterhof was the opportunity to take on a new challenge and work with his team to develop something sustainable. Satisfied guests are just as important to him as a strong team spirit among the staff. He is passionate about using regional, fresh ingredients and aims to revitalize traditional Austrian classics and reinterpret them in a contemporary way. In his free time, he enjoys exploring European cities with his wife, discovering new cultures, and drawing inspiration from the cuisines and culinary traditions of other countries.

Florian Niederbichler, our Sous Chef

Since March 2, 2026, Florian has been enriching the kitchen at the Klosterhof as sous chef. He brings valuable experience from the fine dining scene: he spent two years as chef de partie at the renowned Bootshaus in Traunkirchen before his path ultimately led him to the Bergergut in the Mühlviertel region. At the Klosterhof, he is particularly enthusiastic about traditional Austrian cuisine, which has always been close to his heart. In search of a new challenge, he found the ideal place here to contribute his passion and expertise. Florian prefers to spend his free time with his daughter or fishing, where he enjoys the tranquility of nature.

Poujan Porbaghri, our Restaurant Manager

Poujan joined the team at Klosterhof as restaurant manager on May 1, 2026. His career in the restaurant industry began in Austria back in 2012—starting as a part-time waiter, moving on to the bar, and eventually working in late-night dining. While studying industrial technology and geology, he gained valuable experience in a wide variety of areas within the restaurant industry, was self-employed and most recently served as a successful service manager in Linz. With his passion for hospitality, his organizational skills, and his many years of experience, he and his team ensure that guests enjoy special moments of indulgence. In his free time, he can be found playing sports or fishing in nature.
